ASSIGNMENT 1: Community Resources for Older Individuals

Volunteers and political officials in local communities often campaign to improve conditions and provide services to increase the well-being of individuals and families living in those communities. If you are the parent of young children, you might focus on improving the local school or creating safe places where children can play. If you are an individual in later adulthood or a caregiver for an individual in later adulthood, what community resources might be important to you? For this week’s Assignment, you evaluate the resources that your local community provides for its older members.

To prepare for this Assignment, research the resources available in your local community to support the issues and concerns of the older population. Note any gaps in these services and consider what improvements might be made to existing services as well as what services should be added.

Submit a 2- to 4-page paper that includes the following:

o   A description of the services in your local community that support individuals in later adulthood

o   An evaluation of the effectiveness of the services you identified

o   A description of service gaps you identified

o   An explanation of how to improve existing services

o   A description of services that should be added, and why

Support your Assignment with specific references to the resources. Be sure to provide full APA citations for your references.

This week, you learned about various theories surrounding the determination of one’s sexual orientation. In addition, you learned about some of the limitations and criticisms of the research.

Explain briefly (in 1-2 paragraphs) your understanding of the research on origins of sexual orientation. Why is it important to understand what determines one’s sexual orientation? Consider ethical, legal, and social implications. If you do not think it is important to understand the origins, please explain.Based on what you have learned in your readings within the class and your textbook, make a hypothesis as to where you think the research might lead.

Write your initial response to each part in 3–4 paragraphs. Support your arguments with research, applying APA standards to citation of sources

2-3 PAGE PSYCHOLOGY RESEARCH paper

  Analysis and Report

During this lesson, you’ve learned about the variety of research methodologies that psychologist scientist may choose to use in answering a research question.  Now it’s your turn to think carefully through a research question and choose an appropriate method.

The research question:

Does playing violent video games increase aggressive behavior in children?

Suppose you have the whole range of research techniques/methods at your disposal.  You also have all the time and money you might need to test out this question.  You do NOT have superpowers, though, so you’re still constrained by the laws of physics (no invisibility cloaks, super-hearing, or time travel please!).

Your task is the following:

First, what is your independent and dependent variable for this research question? Now, choose TWO  different research methods (case study, naturalistic observation, survey, experiment, etc.) and address the following questions in a 2-3 page paper (double-spaced, 1-inch margins, 12-point font):How would you go about answering this research question for EACH of the two research methods you chose?  Be specific and outline the exact procedure you’d use for each method.Identify at least ONE strength and ONE weakness for each of the two research methods you chose.Discuss the reliability and validity of the actual measurement tools you’d be using for each of the two methods. Finally, discuss whether or not EACH research method you chose would allow for you to make conclusions about causality between violent video game playing and aggressive behavior.

Submit your write-up in the Assignments Tool, “Major Assignment – Research Design: Strengths and Limitations”.

Be sure to check the Calendar for due dates.

Homework Help How Much

Philosophical perspectives and theories on morality contribute to an understanding of the deep-rooted human need to question the role human beings play in society. Whether your views align with those of Aristotle, Kant, or Mill, you can explore the reasons behind your inherent motivation to act responsibly. At the outset of your life, you develop habits of thought based on what you are exposed to, where you live, with whom you live, and your experiences. In this Application Assignment, you critically examine these experiences as well as theoretical perspectives on morality and assess how they impact your moral and cultural identity. You also assess how these experiences influence your concept of social responsibility.

To prepare for this Assignment:Read the articles by Brink (2014), Johnson (2014), and Kraut (2014) in this week’s resources. Summarize the key points of each theory. Does one theory resonate with you more than another? Why or why not?Make connections to your own culture. Consider whether these three theories are reflected in your own culture.Review the Cultural Genogram: Dimensions of Culture document in this week’s Resources. Think about the ways different dimensions of culture inform your moral identity (e.g., how your national, ethnic, and/or gender identity informs your moral identity).Consider how different dimensions of culture inform your concept of social responsibility.

To complete this Assignment:Write a 2-page analysis connecting the three theories of morality to your own cultural identity.Explain how the theories align or do not align with your cultural identity. Include how cultural identity impacts social responsibility.Provide at least three references using proper APA format.
